What is the opportunity?
As Associate, Project Finance and Infrastructure (“PIF”), you will play a key role in the realization of Corporate Client Group (CCG) objectives through the structuring, delivery and management of project finance (“PF”) and public private partnership (“P3”) transactions principally in partnership with existing and new clients.
Initiative and responsibility are key to success along with financial modelling, credit structuring transactions, including due diligence, credit submissions and transaction presentations. You will have a particular focus on P3 and Project Finance supporting the national mandate of the Project and Infrastructure Finance team.
What will you do?
- Provide analysis and support to Directors and Associate Directors PIF in the management and monitoring of the PIF growing loan portfolio.
- Fully support preparation efforts of PIF credit submissions and associated analysis of the complex PF and P3 transactions, with emphasis on completion in a timely and professional manner.
- Support preparation, as required, of quality pitch books and client presentations with emphasis on completion in a timely, accurate and professional manner.
- Follow up and engage with RBC partners, e.g. Syndications, Credit Management, Risk Management and other areas.
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
- Actively pursuing a graduate or undergraduate degree with a focus in Business or Economics with understanding of senior debt risk fundamentals and ability to manage complex concepts
- Strong ability to model and interpret financial sensitivity and scenario worksheets
- Strong financial, risk, accounting, written and communication skills
- Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple tasks while meeting time sensitive deadlines
- Strong computer literacy with emphasis on PowerPoint and Excel
- Solid personal, and the ability to work effectively within a team environment under time constraints, curiosity and desire to learn
- Interest in the infrastructure finance space
Nice-to-have
- Experience in project financing transaction execution with emphasis on renewable energy, legal documentation and negotiation skills
- Experience in a financial institution with project finance
- CPA, CA, CFA or other relevant professional designation – ongoing or completed
- Understanding and familiarity with RBC internal processes
- Effective bilingual skills
