We run a $10–12M commercial solar EPC company in California.
The business is profitable on paper. Cash flow is the problem.
We operate on milestone-based billing across multiple projects.
We need someone who can take control of cash—at both the company and project level.
This is not an accounting role.
What you’ll own
- Build and manage a 13-week rolling cash flow forecast (updated weekly)
- Track cash flow at the project level (milestones vs actual spend)
- Identify where projects are cash-negative despite being profitable
- Implement payment control discipline:
- Prioritize what gets paid vs delayed
- Align vendor payments with incoming cash
- Drive collections:
- Ensure milestone invoices go out immediately
- Follow up and accelerate cash in
- Work with Project Managers to:
- Improve billing timing
- Prevent cash leaks
- Run a weekly cash review with leadership
- Provide clear answers to:
- When we run out of cash
- Which projects are helping or hurting liquidity
What success looks like
- We have clear visibility on cash 13 weeks ahead
- No surprises on cash shortages
- Projects are structured to be cash-positive or neutral
- Payments and collections are controlled—not reactive
Requirements (must have)
- Experience in construction, EPC, or project-based businesses
- Hands-on experience managing cash flow (not just reporting)
- Experience with milestone billing / job costing / WIP
- Strong Excel / Google Sheets skills (you will build models)
- Fluent English (written and spoken)
- Comfortable pushing back on operations and leadership when needed
Nice to have
- Solar EPC or electrical construction experience
- Experience working with US-based companies
- Familiarity with project scheduling and procurement cycles

- Pure accountants or bookkeepers
- Passive reporting roles
- Strategy without execution
