An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Project Finance Officer to join a highly respected public sector team based in Brisbane CBD, for an initial 6 month contract. This role offers the chance to make a meaningful impact on major capital projects that benefit communities across Queensland, supporting government initiatives and infrastructure development. You will be part of a collaborative and inclusive environment where your expertise in financial management, governance, and reporting will directly contribute to the successful delivery of significant projects.
What you’ll do:
- Create and maintain accurate financial reports and systems to provide timely information for clients and stakeholders.
- Identify and address financial risks, offering recommendations to ensure projects are delivered within scope and budget.
- Monitor project budgets and expenditures through research and analysis to support effective management.
- Advise management on financial risks, obligations, cash flow, forecasts, and progress against key goals.
- Use corporate systems and tools to track financial data, investigate discrepancies, analyze trends, and recommend corrective actions.
- Improve financial processes and procedures to enhance project efficiency.
- Collaborate with project teams and stakeholders to achieve successful outcomes through shared knowledge.
- Provide clear guidance and training to ensure consistent use of policies, systems, and tools.
- Support service agreements and contracts by offering budget advice and expenditure forecasts.
- Prepare high-quality performance reports to promote transparency and accountability.
What you bring:
- Experience in creating and improving financial management processes and procedures, within a project environment would be advantageous.
- Ability to take responsibility for achieving objectives and resolving issues constructively.
- Proven track record of delivering high-quality financial reports and governance tools for large projects.
- Skilled at building positive relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders, including government agencies.
- Ability to provide clear advice, mentoring, and training to ensure adherence to policies, standards, and systems.
- Advanced analytical skills for assessing budgets and managing contract/non-contract expenditure effectively.
- Strong communication skills for collaborating with executives, project teams, consultants, clients, and stakeholders.
- Experience managing data within corporate systems, ensuring accuracy, investigating variances, and recommending solutions.
- Expertise in developing service agreements and project budgets with reliable expenditure forecasts.
- Tertiary qualifications in Finance, Business, or related fields are preferred but not mandatory.
