Senior Project Finance Manager

As a Senior Project Finance Management Accountant, you’ll be trusted with significant responsibilities, from delivering accurate monthly financial management reports to providing expert project-level finance support. You’ll also be a driving force in shaping business strategy, representing the Finance team at senior management events, and ensuring that our financial operations are as efficient as they are effective.

A typical day in the life as a Senior Project Finance Management Accountant:

• Assist the mobilisation of complex new contracts, with particular focus on creating the contract in our core systems.
• Setting up new project structures for the Construction Logistics Operations Team.
• Review the IT systems deployed by the team to ensure they remain leading edge in driving accuracy and efficiency.
• Prepare timely and accurate monthly Management Accounts for the Construction Logistics Operations Team and preparation of basic commentary.
• Assist with Year-end and interim statutory audit
• Credit control, making sure we are paid the correct amount, on a timely basis, within the sector. The role is to escalate issues to the operations team for action.
• Step in with good negotiation skills to resolve disputes with our clients and suppliers.
• Using the data generated to drive margin improvement with better working practices.
• Assist our bid team with the tender commercials, if any queries arise.
• Oversee the preparation of annual budgets for the sector and gathering information for the CFO to reforecast periodically.

What are we looking for?

• Professional qualification or PQ (ACCA/ACA/CIMA)
• Proven experience in a senior finance role, preferably within construction, logistics, or a related industry.
• Experience managing project-level finance, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
• Excellent knowledge of financial management accounting, including preparing and analysing financial statements and reports.
• Experience with financial software, ERP systems, and promoting technology adoption within a team or organization.
• Proficiency in financial modelling, data analysis, and the use of complex formulas in Excel.
• Ability to work to deadlines with excellent negotiation skills.
• Developing IT systems to drive efficiency and accuracy.
• Strong communication skills, particular with non-finance professionals.
• Commercial experience would be advantageous but not essential.
