This role of Project Finance Assistant will play an integral part in supporting the management of project finances in the Crown Commercial Service (CCS). Working as part of a small team the post holder will drive data quality and reporting accuracy to improve CCS’s understanding of project and digital costs. The post holder will be responsible for providing support that enables the Project Finance Team and wider finance teams to effectively deliver their financial plans.

Upon starting with CCS the successful candidate will be welcomed into our team and supported in the role. There will be a period of induction through which we will put in place training to help you assimilate into the role and become familiar with CCS, what we do and how we operate.

Job description

Key Accountabilities:

>Provide transactional support in order to improve cost and efficiency in the Digital and Data Services Directorate cost space, including responsibility for weekly download of the actuals for each cost centre in the Digital and Data Services Directorate and project space.

>Regular transaction reviews to ensure correct project allocation including reconciliation of pay costs and interim costs to project trackers and assisting with the project Dedicated Resource Process.

>Reconciliations of headcount and cost base

>Checking commitment reports and keeping an accurate record of the payments to interims, keeping track of absences to inform accruals. Ensure the accruals spreadsheet is updated each month and shows the correct interim with the correct hourly rate in each cost centre

>Maintenance of the Project Trackers including creating new trackers when new projects have been approved and creating monthly snapshots.

>Ad hoc duties assisting the Operational Finance Team, Business Partner Team and the Head of Finance


Essential Criteria (to be assessed on application):

>Ability to use initiative to manage your own workload; able to prioritise and work at pace.

>Develop and manage relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders.

>Communicating financial information and issues to non-finance professionals

>Experience of Financial Systems

Desirable Criteria:

>Working towards a professional accounting qualification; AAT/ACCA / CIMA or equivalent
